The organisation, however, gave opinion in favour of ‘service road’ beside the national highway.
The recommendation was made at a workshop held at BRTA head office at Banani in the capital on Sunday.
In the workshop, the movement of motorbikes on highway was blamed for the excessive road accidents and deaths during the last Eid-ul-Fitr were three times higher than the past.
According to BRTA, some 58 people died in 56 road accidents at the time of the Eid-ul-Fitr of 2021. On an average, seven people died every day. Some 106 people lost lives in 106 accidents of eight days in last Eid. The country counted 13 deaths every day on an average.
